Grocery stores and supermarkets
Grocery stores and supermarkets are quite widespread in Yerevan. There is a small shop in the backyard of almost every building, and a supermarket in each neighborhood. Most supermarkets are conveniently open 24 hours. Supermarkets sell a wide range of products whereas small shops generally the carry basics: bread, meat, milk products, cereals, alcohol, soft drinks, coffee, tea and candies.
Fashion boutiques
Many famous clothing brands have boutiques in Yerevan. Mainly, these stores are concentrated on Abovyan, Teryan, and Tumanyan Street, Sayat Nova Avenue. Prices are comparable to European and American prices. When it comes to the lates fashion trends, collections are often a little late to reach Yerevan.
Vernissage
You can buy various souvenirs, bijouterie, silver decorations, carpets, handmade handbags, and traditional ethnic clothing at the Vernissage. It starts near the Republic Square subway station and ends at the monument of Vardan Mamikonyan. Besides souvenirs and works of Armenian art, you will be surprised to see telephone, radio and tape recorder bits, and extremely dated bathroom equipment, among other things. Think about the price you are offered, because vendors usually shoot high. Do not hesitate to bargain with them. You can find paintings here, but if canvases are what you want, it’s better to go to the Vernissage near the Martiros Saryan monument (the Painter’s Vernissage). Artists display their paintings here during the weekend.
Markets
The Covered Market is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Here you can buy vegetables, fruits, famous Armenian sweets and dried fruits. Dried fruits are at the very beginning of the market, and spices, cheese and dairy products from the villages are along the right side.
